TWENTY one members of the Hedgehogs pedalled for seven hours on Sunday with 50,000 other cyclists on the annual London to Brighton bike ride.
The team used a massive three ton bike which is as big as a Volvo estate car. With two back-up minibuses lent by Weydon School and TS Swiftsure, they set off at 8.30 am from London and finally crossed the finishing line at 3.30 p.m.
Organiser Roger Cole told the Herald that everyone was exhausted but enjoyed the day. "We had a fantastic reception at Brighton but I think that by then everyone was worn out. There were 21 of us pedalling but it was still very tiring.""When we got there, the scenes were amazing. You could not see the road for bikes. We were the biggest by far so we had to be careful not to hit anyone" he said.
The group hope that the sponsored ride has raised well over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation. A donation wasmade to the Guildford Adventurers Association who own the bike.
