The Bon East Restaurant was the venue for the latest Hedgehog Charity fund raising event when over one hundred guests enjoyed a Gourmet Dinner and Auction evening in support of Woodlarks Camp Site – Project Woodpecker Appeal.
The evening was attended by Town Mayor Councillor Carole Cockburn and Alisdair Cockburn together with Hedgehog members and wives and many friends and supporters. With the most generous support of Bon East proprietors Hong and Jun Lu the evening raised £3000 for Project Woodpecker.
Project Woodpecker is an ambitious plan to upgrade the outmoded facilities at the camp site to enable more handicapped people to camp, to prolong the season and provide comfort and convenience for campers and their helpers. The proposed redevelopment is expected to cost around £2.3 million of which £1.5 million needs to be raised.
